We have been so busy at Powisset lately that it has been hard to make my way from the fields and off the computer to say hello to all of you, Powisset Community and CSA members! In the last five weeks, we have gone from snow in the fields, frozen fields and hail storms, to 80 degrees and rising, dry fields, irrigation running for hours to save broccoli plantings and weeds sprouting! What a bizarre Spring! Our amazing farm crew starting those five weeks ago and has stuck it out with me through all the crazy weather days, hours of tractor training, and endless planting sessions that seem to last all week! Now, as we are really into the month of May, I can see the beginning of our season come into focus. With lettuce and spinach and scallions finally growing, and the start of the CSA less than a month away, i know that this 2015 season will actually happen...even though I was convinced for a while that we would be harvesting snow for you!
So get those recipes ready because we will be eating fresh, Powisset salads before we know it!

the tour & orientation starts promptly at 10:30 and last about an hour!

Attention all photo enthusiasts: you are invited to enter our new Powisset Farm Photo Competition! Register and bring in your photos by the new deadline of June 19. Exhibition and judging in the kitchen area will take place from June 20 through the Saturday CSA distribution day on July 25. All photographs must be taken at Powisset Farm (anywhere on the 100 acre property). Photographers of all skill levels are welcome.
