Powisset farm grows veggies! |
Our Farm is Growing (Part 1):
Hello from Powisset Farm on this (finally) warm and sunny day! I just walked into the office with a big smile on my face and an excitement in my belly! Not only am I thrilled (really thrilled!) that the sun is out and the plants might actually be growing...but i just had the pleasure of realizing, once again, how great this job is! This realization strikes me often, but today it was after loading up about 2000 seedlings to donate to a small organization that is growing food in small lots in South Boston. I met the founder of the organization this morning and we revealed to each other that before farming, neither one of us had heard of chard and how now, we could hardly survive without it! I listened to him share the story of his project, growing food and teaching kids that all veggies are not called "salad" but that there are many different crops with different names. He drove off with the veggies bouncing in the truck down the farm road and I pictured the gardens filling up with our healthy seedlings growing and thriving miles from our farm. I looked out at our fields to see the farm crew tucking our third planting of broccoli into the slowly warming soil and felt excited for all the ways, literally and metaphorically, that our farm was growing in that moment.
There are so many ways that Powisset Farm is growing this year! I can't wait to share that growth with you this season!
See you at the Spring Fest,

The Neighborhood Farm Sells Seedlings! |
Are you interested in planting a bit of Powisset Farm in your backyard? Then come to the Powisset Farm Spring Festival! Ok...Powisset won't have a lot of seedlings for sale, but The Neighborhood Farm will be a vendor at the festival with hundreds of different kinds of tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and so much more! Our fish vendor, Jordan Brothers Seafood, will be there along with a new chicken Farm, Eden Pond Farm, who will be selling their awesome birds! (for food...not for backyard chicken owning...) There will be crafts, honey, books, community organizations, farm tours, an edible plant walk, live music, food, the cutest piglets ever and more!!
Please come spend the day with us! You will even get a glimpse of the newly completed Powisset Farm Barn...you'll have to see it to believe it!
